Robert Durst Sentencing in Federal Case
Robert Durst received a 7 year prison sentence after pleading guilty in federal court to possession of gun charges in Louisiana. He is expected to transfer to California by mid-August where the LA District Attorney will proceed with a murder case against him.
Dennis Hastert Sentencing Hearing
Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert will be sentenced today for money laundering. He is expected to receive no more than a 6-month sentence for his guilty plea last year related to hush money he paid to an alleged sex abuse victim. An alleged victim sued him in Illinois state court on 4/25/16 demanding the $1.8 million balance of the $3.5 million in promised hush money.
Robert Dear Competency Hearing
Robert Dear is accused of 3 counts of murder for a shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood facility. He's competency to stand trial is challenged at a hearing today.
Charles Merritt Hearing
Charles Merritt is charged with murdering the McStay family in 2010. The McStays disappeared from their family home in Feb. 2010 and were found in shallow graves in San Bernardino County in Nov. 2013. Merritt, a business associate of Joseph McStay, is now accused of 4 counts of capital murder.

Edward Nero/Baltimore Cop Trial to Begin
Edward Nero is the first of the officers charged with Freddie Gray's death to go to trial since the mistrial of Officer William Porter and the subsequent appeals. Porter is expected to be a witness for the State against Nero and the remaining four officers to be tried between now and October. Nero's trial is scheduled to begin today.
Hearing Continues in Planned Parenthood Shooter Case
The competency hearing in the murder case against Robert Dear continues today in a Colorado courtroom. On May 11, 2016, the judge found Dear incompetent to stand trial---at least for now.
