Donald Blankenship Sentencing Hearing
Blankenship, the former CEO of Massey Energy, was convicted last December of a misdemeanor--conspiring to violate safety regulations--after an April 5, 2010 coal mine explosion killed 29 of his employees in West Virginia. The jury acquitted him of 2 other counts, both of which were felonies. Today he was sentenced to one year in federal prison and fined $250,000. He will also be on one year of supervised release after serving his sentence.
