UPDATE on 2/28/17: Here’s the autopsy report for the victim. Three years ago last month, Curtis Reeves, 74, a retired Tampa police captain, argued with Chad Oulson, 43, in a movie theater outside Tampa. Their fight, apparently over Oulson’s cellphone use, escalated. Reeves fired one shot at Oulson, killing him. He’s charged with murder but is asserting self defense. Yesterday a hearing began that could last up to two weeks. The hearing is based on Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law. If the judge presiding over the hearing is convinced that Reeves was reasonable in fearing for his safety and in using deadly force against Oulson, then the charges could be dismissed.
