With the airing of specials marking the 20th anniversary of JonBenet Ramsey’s murder, I started to think about other well-known unsolved crimes. One of the most famous unsolved murders in the country just passed its 50th anniversary on September 18. On that date, in 1966, a brutal attack occurred in the expansive Kenilworth, Illinois estate of industry titan, Charles Percy, the former president of Bell & Howell. At the time, Percy was running for the United States Senate. The election was less than two months away. Of course, the brutal murder of his 21-year-old daughter Valerie put his campaign on hold.
