I know that we typically discuss crimes and other legal topics making news in the U.S. but a recent story about a murder in Pakistan has caught my attention. Pakistani social media star Qandeel Baloch, 25, was murdered by her brother Waseem last week in what he called an “honor killing.” An honor killing is when a family member kills another family member believing the other has brought shame upon the family. The “shame” typically stems from a belief that the family member has violated the principles of a religion or community. Qandeel’s brother confessed to drugging then strangling her last Friday.
