What Really Happened When Kitty Genovese Was Murdered?

The death of 81-year-old Winston Moseley on March 28 was a newsworthy event–enough so to be written about in the New York Times. Moseley died in a New York State prison where he spent more than 50 years, having been denied parole many times. What made him famous was the story of the vicious murder he committed in Queens, New York, on March 13, 1964. Catherine “Kitty” Genovese was only 29 years old when she was repeatedly stabbed outside her apartment building in Kew Gardens, a Queens, New York neighborhood, by Moseley. It was around 3:15 a.m. Genovese was returning home from work as a manager at a sports bar. Moseley initially stabbed her twice in the back then ran away when a man yelled to him to leave Genovese alone. Moseley, however, returned minutes later to continue the attack….
