The six officers charged in Freddie Gray’s death last April have appeals being argued today in Maryland’s high court—the Court of Appeals. The issues being appealed stem from the State’s request that Officer William Porter testify against the other five officers—even though Porter faces a retrial later in the year. One appeal is brought by Officer Porter against the State of Maryland. This appeal involves the cases of Sgt. Alicia White and Officer Caesar Goodson, the driver of the van in which Gray sustained a fatal spinal injury. The Hon.
